Soapbox - Phones

Cellphones, a great invention that is widely abused . . . my simple plea:

For the love of god, stop talking/texting and driving!

Reasons you should not talk or text while driving (as if needed):
1. Your reaction is decreased - although rather meager in scope, at least the link below gives some indication of the dangers: (http://www.clemson.edu/newsroom/articles/2008/january/driving_texting.php5)

2. You are driving a vehicle that could kill someone

3. You impede the flow of traffic - everyone on the road can tell you are texting or talking to your friend.

4. You just are not that important . . . nor are the things you are doing. Stop it. Figure things out before or after you are behind the wheel.

Thank you,
Jon

I don't know about hands free . . . I think we are all so distracted anyway and the freeways are so crazy (in SoCal at least) that hands free is probably not much better.

@Soma - that is what we need here in the states. it's only $120+ for the first offense.

Texting is now getting more attention/laws made in some states here...

I couldn't agree with you more.
It's against the law in most Canadian provinces (is it the same in the US?) to be talking/texting on a phone while driving.
I think the maximum fine for doing such an act is something like $500.
