Absurd newspaper article !!!
Two days after their show to the aniversary of VISIONS Magazine in Dortmund (concert house on November; 1st, 2009), the following local newspaper article was published.
I couldn't believe any word of this comment. The artical was a consistent, harsh and of course inequitable critique.
Here it is (german version):
Within the next few days I gonna write a contraindication - and will publish it.
Because Dredg should not be described as this by such a stupid and nescient reporter.

Hey everybody,
this is the translation of the newspaper article with regard to the content:
"At the end of the "Visions" – birthday-celebration Dredg filled Dortmund’s concert house.
What is only in it in the music of Dredg that the Californian quartet even filled the concert hall at the end of the "Visions" - birthday bash? We do not know. And say it flatly: Dredg is the band "we love to hate" - which we cannot bear. Years ago Dredg performed at "Visions" party in the club called FZW, even then they seemed to be stiffly, bloodless, pretentious. Also their appearance on Sunday in the concert hall released no urge of moving , no physical energy. Armchair music for ears and head, from the doers of "Visions" presented at the right place. Dredg songs mostly have a dramatic gesture. Mighty Crescendi, tricky tempo changes. Songs like collages with full breaks and demolition edges. Heavy guitar-sounds à la Led zeppelin burst, Nu Metal reminiscences interfere with Neo-Psychedelia and airy-fairy lyrical. From catchy harmonies or melodies was not to be heard live a lot. Gavin Hayes sings quite high, not a little variably. No refrain which really sticks. Violin and cello were used, substantially boisterous. The guitar makes noises, the drummer slaves away, however,it‘s not all it's cracked up to be.
There we sit irritated to bored between hard applauding fans and remember what Nick Hornby has said sometimes: If the band bores you, always look at the drummer! – No effect. Dino Campanella is just a strenght muscle show and sport drummer, however he stands in the service of Rock-Sinfonikern. No, Sorry, Visions, sorry, fans: Not at all my case. Gone to the break. ~ kai"

* W O W * Except, really, who cares if this jerkoff doesn't understand how beyond amazing Dredg is! He obviously didn't take the time to actually listen to their music or talk to them because if he did he would never call them pretentious - maybe he just has a thing against California folk? Haha
It's a shame that this was written because it obviously isn't true - but again - if guys like him stay away from dredg shows that seems like a win win situation to me. -

That's the most sorry excuse for a review I've read in some time. Can't believe a newspaper actually printed this. I'm all for critical reviews, noone is forced to love dredg like we do, but statements like "we can't stand them" and "I went during the break" lack any objectivity at all. Reads more like a rant among friends than a newspaper article.

I'm all for critical reviews, noone is forced to love dredg like we do, but statements like "we can't stand them" and "I went during the break" lack any objectivity at all. Reads more like a rant among friends than a newspaper article.
Exactly what I thought, how could a newspaper print this? And the fact that the review says 'We' makes it enough to actually avoid the whole paper.
And yes it's one thing being critical but insulting a band openly just because it's not ones cup of tea doesn't show any professionalism at all! -

Wow! I 'm ashamed and offended to read such a crap in a german newspaper. They were a lot of articles in the press after the concerts- but nothing like this one.
It's like it has been already said: noone has to like Dredg, but a person who can't be objective is out of place working for a newspaper.
This article is an sequence of insults. Which newspaper is it?
